Program Description:
A legal primer from land use attorneys on common issues facing architects when appearing before land use boards or assisting a client with code enforcement.
Learning Objects:
1. An understanding of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (“SEQRA”) process, forms and how to work with the reviewing agency.
2. A review of the legal standards for granting an area or use variance, discussion of relevant case law and tips on appearing before a Zoning Board of Appeals.
3. Tips on how to resolve local code and building violations from a legal perspective.
4. Lessons learned from court decisions on professional liability, what went wrong and how it could have been avoided.
