“The poet Paul Valery said that poetry is a prolonged hesitation between sense and sound. Along with its architectural kin, the art of structural engineering has many poles of hesitation and approaches. Highlighting these potential tensions and opportunities using mostly examples of house projects and sculpture, but also examples of form from literature and the visual arts, Mark Hage, who as principal of Hage Engineering PC has been practicing for over 30 years, will share his observations on the modes of Architect-Engineer collaborations and will outline moments of structural subversion and imagination in the architectural edifice.”
