This AIA/CES course will provide a detailed overview of the stile and rail door construction method, its history of use in the United States and its important role in door design. The course also includes a comprehensive survey of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), its characteristics and use for stile and rail door applications. At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
• Communicate a detailed technical understanding of stile and rail door construction
• Understand the important role stile and rail construction method played in the history of U.S. door construction
• Understand the important characteristics of medium density fiberboard (MDF) and its application within stile and rail door manufacturing
